We sadly announce the passing of Albert Bakyta after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Peter’s Hospital on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the age of 90. Albert was the beloved husband of Mary (nee Stanichak) with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. He was dearest Dad to Nick (Paola Nasute) of Vancouver, B.C., Jean (Joe Hudacin) of Bath, Ontario and Susan (Rick Culver) of Hamilton. Albert was cherished Grampa to Sophia, Christopher, Jeremiah (Vicky Stikeman), Micah (Julie Bissell), Katrina (Pete Stringer), Brendan and Jordan. He was also Great Grampa to Clara, Leah, Chloe and Emily. Albert was predeceased by his brothers Emil and William. Albert was a proud member of the Lado Tamburitzans, a life long member of the Amateur Radio League, a long time employee of CHCH TV, and a veteran of WWII. A very special thank you goes out to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital , 4 East for the 8 years of loving care shown to Albert. The family will receive friends at the MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King St. E. (at Kenilworth) on Monday from 6-8 p.m. with prayer service at 7:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church,1883 King Street East on Tuesday at 1 pm followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Albert Bakyta was a longtime member of the HARC back in the 60s. He was radio/TV technician at CHCH (at the transmitter tower site in Stoney Creek) when it first started with Stu Graves VE3SG (Chief Tech.) and Stan Kubien VE3COE (Tech).

Peacefully with dignity at Shalom Village Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 22, 1993, aged 88 years. Beloved husband of the late Jean Barrett (Smith). Loved uncle of Beverley Corsini and her husband Robert of Stoney Creek, Gerald Smith and his wife Lynne of Mount Hope, and Bill and Virginia Wallis of Medeira Beach, Florida. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families in Toronto and the United States. Mr. Barrett was the owner and president of Kohler’s Drug Store until his retirement. He was a past President of the Hamilton Shrine Club (1962) and a Charter Member of the Kiwanas Club of Central Hamilton. Mr. Barrett was a fifty year Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. For several years Joe was the Hamilton Commercial Retail Chairman for the Canadian Cancer Society. In 1982 he received the Regional Chairman’s Award for his contributions to the International Year of the Disabled. Mr. Marrett was also a member of Westdale United Church. Cremation has taken place. Obituary:

We are sad to announce that Stan lost his short battle with cancer at St. Peter’s Hospital on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the age of 65. Predeceased by his parents Anton (1976) and Mary (1995), brother Frank (2004), brother-in-law Frank Mitchell (1995), and nephew Frankie Mitchell (1993). Stan is survived by his sister Angie Mitchell, nieces Maria and Jim Pyne, Francine and Randy Pizzacalla. Stanley was a dedicated member with the Knights of Columbus and will also be missed by his many friends with the Amateur Radio Club. Special thanks to St. Peter’s for their compassion, dedication and T.L.C. Stanley’s blindness never stopped him from living life to its fullest. Visiting will be held at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rosary Service Sunday at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church on Monday, November 17, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
