Of Cayuga, suddenly yet peacefully at the Dunnville War Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 8, 2000, went to his Heavenly home, in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Elgersma). Father of Arthur of Hamilton, Alice (Andy) of Owen Sound, Melvin (Livia) of Cambridge, Fred (Connie) of Cayuga, Caroline (Shank) of Canfield, Marge (Jack) of Canfield, Betty of Milton, Jacqui (Alan) of Caldeonia, and Louise (Rick) Keswick. Much loved grandpa of twenty-two grandchildren. Is survived by his brothers Martin, Art and Gary and his sister Tina. Predeceased by his sister Joanne. For many years John was the owner and operator of Dykstra Refrigeration and an avid ham radio operator “VE3BOY” (73′s and 88′s) and a war vet of VOMI. John’s wishes were to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church in York on Monday, November 13 at 2 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Dunnville War Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
